New material to read! Yay

So, I have watched a lot of Carl Sagan on Youtube. Sometimes I feel bad, I was not in the same generation as he was. Arguably, he started the whole revolution of skeptics and non-believers. He was very vocal about in on tv. Cosmos was a science program that was decades ahead of its time. Even now, only a reasonably well informed person can make sense out of it.

After hearing his name being used as reference from Dr. Niel deGrasse Tyson and Dr. Brian Cox (another amazing British physicist ) I decided to read all of Dr.Carl Sagan's work.I am starting off with billions and billions. Will keep you updated!

Science

I ve been following the Symphony of Science channel for a year or so now. I really urge people to go check it out

The boredom of Rolla has made a voracious reader. I made a conscious effort to read something which pushes my boundary of understanding of the world around me. I have seen so many people read story books and it absolutely astonishes the amount of time they waste of the cheap thrills of a fictional story.

Another development instigated from all the reading is my religious (or the lack thereof) understanding. I can tell you hands down, India is the most secular country in the world. And that is why I love my country so much. I've never felt any religious influence of any sorts in my 21 years there. Growing up with Hindus, Muslims, Christians and Buddhist, we all existed peacefully and did our own thing. Although I was born a Hindu, I could say I left India an agnostic. The reason behind it is probably a lack of understanding of the world and the fact that the world is so vast, a designer is needed to calm your mind down.

My time here in Rolla has pretty much turned me into an atheist.

(halt : while you read that, there is already a dark energy flowing through you. Blame this on the media and the filth they throw. Atheist's are considered to be immoral and inherently bad people . Being an atheist also beckons a lack of spirit personality. Another lie! I am very spiritual but I know better - it is all in my temporal lobe and right hemisphere.)

Being in America ,especially in the bible belt makes you feel the full frontal contact of religious pressure. I have had more than 5 random people just stop me in the walkway in my college and question my belief and urge me to convert to Christianity. The first 3 times I was stopped, I was still a Hindu agnostic. I, in my naive state of mind, when questioned about my religious view, I said Hindu. They smiled (almost sympathetically) and said, the REAL God is Jesus. I can only find salvation in him. I faked a call ( "God" bless the apps :P ) and escaped. The last two times, I boldly said " Atheist". (They refused to talk to me fearing I had been possessed by Satan I assume.. lol)

I 've read most of Neil deGrasse Tyson and Richard Dawkin's works. This was the best starting point. An amazing astrophysicist and a brilliant biologist. These two branches ( along with the root: Math. of course) explain almost everything that we know today. I will not stop this zeal for knowledge, the real knowledge. But this journey has made me love India so much more. A special respect in my heart also lies in Hinduism. I 'll tell you why -

Most people think Hinduism is a religion, but in reality, it is "a way of life". And if you live your life in this way (minus idol worship etc), you will be a happy being. I like the fact that Hinduism is so liberal . There is also an atheist sect in Hinduism ( no kidding.. google it ). I , personally find it to be a bit off an oxymoron )

Anyways, I gotta go cook now. More rants coming soon!

Moozak

So, I ve decided to keep this u solely for sharing my music and science interest.. I realize I haven't blogged since ever (not here at least) .. I ve been busy in the rat race ..

My first post is this song by my friend Sandesh from RNSIT days. This song (name: to the light) does to me now what Floyd used to do to me 5 years ago.. Science calls it temporal lobe simulation .. I call it sex in the mind ..

Its hard for me to explain what this song does to me.. It talks, soothes me!
